Hi. When you sign up, the site asks for your Name. Now, clearly when a form asks for your name, it's logical to assume it's your full given name. In most cases, that assumption would be correct. If you're filling in a job application form, you're not going to say your name is CheekyMonkey789, are you? Certainly not if you want the job. But on forums, this isn't the case. Name, in this instance, means Username, which can be anything you want it to be. So, you join up, you fall into the trap, realise your full name is there in all its glory, frantically search for the "Change Name" option and panic when you realise there's no such option. This is entirely understandable. If I were a newbie, and mistakenly given the forum my real name, I'd panic too. So you find your way to this subforum. You probably see the Delete Account thread right at the top. Lifesaver! The answer to your problem! Especially when you see all the people who have asked for their accounts to be deleted have "Deleted Member" exactly where your name is on your account. You don't have to leave the forum just because the Sign Up page is a bit ambiguous. There's a reason you joined in the first place. It could be that you want to make new friends, it could be you want to talk about your new furry bundle of joy or maybe it's because you have a problem you need help with. Members can't change their own usernames, because then we'd get pranksters and jokers and bored members changing their usernames like they change their clothes, which would create an air of deniability and a great deal of confusion. But we Mods can. So if the only reason you want to leave is because you've given your full real name and would prefer to be CheekyMonkey789 then please contact a Mod, or reply in this thread instead of the Delete Account thread. Thank you. And I hope to see you on the boards.
