I have just recently received a speeding ticket which claims I had been recorded doing 72 kph (45mph in good old English money) in a 60 kph zone. I have denied such for a number of very crucial reasons. First and foremost; when I travel any distance I refer to a road map the night prior to my journey. I have never required a Sat Nav and refuse to buy one as I spent many years route planning for a fleet of multi-drop trucks.
Secondly, when approaching the area in question I was very aware that I would soon be coming up on a sharp right hand turn. Time to be extra observant!
Thirdly, on board at the time of said incident were two very large Sarplaninacs who aren’t very keen on the car to begin with so it’s a must that I drive considerately for them and don’t make any sudden manoeuvres.
However, just ahead of me was a road sign pointing to the place I was destined for and Lo and behold just after it the Speed Camera and just after the speed camera by, perhaps, 50 yards or so, the turn.

Signal, gently off the gas and lightly apply the brakes and as I pass by the camera in question *SNAP*
A quick glance down at my instrument panel…my speedometer said 55kph.

So, I sent my testimonial explaining all the reasons why I disagreed with the ticket and in return they sent me the fine and an opportunity to appeal. But I pay the fine first? :(
What they are actually implying is that I either, braked very hard to negotiate the turn thus catapulting both dogs (around 150 kilos) towards the front of the vehicle. Or, I made the turn at around 65kph or 37mph sending both dogs hurtling into the side of the vehicle, which, with the sudden distribution of weight might have overturned the car and left two very big dogs very displeased with their chauffeur!  :scared:
We also read an article in a magazine and according to this magazine Speed cameras don’t appear to be very accurate. Investigations have proven that they can be, and often are, affected by such things as weather conditions, electronics of a car, and volume of traffic.
Our question is this; has anyone else experienced a similar problem and fallen victim to these electronic highwaymen?
