Hi everyone. I found this forum by chance and have just joined today.

I live just outside of Cairns in far north Queensland, Australia. Tropical climate. Crocodile country.

    We have three dogs.

Arwen is a 16 year old Pug. I used to breed and show Pugs and she is the last of my line. Her sire, Ch. Pandemonium at Poosbury, came from the UK and Pug people may remember his line.

Kenna is a shaded sable Shetland Sheepdog, 14 months old and Strada is a brindle and white Whippet, 21 months old.

I used to have Deerhounds. Sadly I lost my last boy Weyland to cardiomyopathy 3 years ago. I still miss him.

I also have a well behaved, house trained husband who originally came from Cheshire and two lively foster children, aged 6 and 9.

Looking forward to getting to know you and your pets.

Thank you all very much for the welcomes.

If I ever get to the UK I will make sure I stay at those beautiful farm cottages.

Love the black Patterdale. I don't even know if we have them here in Oz. Beautiful looking dogs.

If you can drag yourself out of the pub Reddog you and everyone else are welcome to pop round for a barby and tinnies of XXXX beer. We'll cook up some local King Prawns and Morton Bay Bugs just for you.

Although it's Winter the weather is beautiful up here at the top of Oz. About 28 degrees C. here today. Lovely beach weather. Gets a bit chilly at night. It dropped down to 10 degrees C. last night. The coldest night this year.

I'm the worst photographer in the world but I'll do my best.

Kenna is my first Sheltie. She is a great little dog. Both my husband and I wish we had got one years ago. Kenna is super intelligent and eager to learn almost anything you wish to teach her. The only thing I had problems with was lead training. Her breeder said this is a common problem.

Grooming is a breeze. I brush her about 2 or 3 times a week and this keeps her coat looking lovely. As we have deadly paralysis ticks up here I do have to check her every day to make sure no ticks are present.

One other problem with the breed. They can be noisy. This is something you have to catch early before it becomes a problem.

I would heartily recommend the breed to most people.
