Out of interest, this struck me as strange.

If you cannot 'name call' on the forums, are you allowed to in rep? I mean if you think its such a strange thing to report it?

I have been called worse in rep than what I have called people on the forums, and no, I didnt think to report any of it because I dont think its necessary on an open forum. But I am interested.

Is rep anything goes? You seem to think its not something to be reported so this is just out of interest.

My thoughts are on the lines of I don't give out bad rep. So if I am giving out rep I wouldn't need to be calling someone..

But if someone gives you bad rep and is down right rude.. Then yeah I see no prob of you pming a mod.. Although.. There isn't any rules I guess.. so send a pm.. :)

I guess its something that could be discussed by the mods.. I don't know what gets said in these bad rep comments..

Thank you for the clarification, I can confirm rep can get very heated sometimes. Personally I dont say anything in rep that I wouldnt say on the forums (or would have said...) but I cant say the same for everyone.

I didnt give out rep either until I found my own lol :D

I think I was here for a year before I found it.. then had to ask what the green blobs were for.. then had to ask how do I find out who has given it.. so observant I am..

I assumed the likes were this forums version of rep. Clearly this place just needs many more ways to show our appreciation and lack of ;)

I'm going to ask a reeeeeeeeeally stupid question now.

What exactly is rep? Is there a thread anywhere explaining it? How do you give it out and what is it for? I've seen a few people mention it - is it the same as when you click "Like"? (I get the feeling it isn't but I can't see the option to do anything like that!)

There are scales on the top of each post to the right.. click them and it gives you the option to agree or disagree.. and pop a comment in.. the person you are repping gets to see what you have put.. But no one else..

Sometimes there are posts which are worth much more than just a 'like' so this is where the rep option is worthwhile.

Maybe if we also had a 'dislike' button, to balance up the discussions, fewer people would feel the need to give out bad rep. :)

Golly, I can only imagine the discussions a "disliked" post will spark! ;)
