Hey All, I am new here - I have just come across this new launch of an app called dogbreedingapp
You can browse through 1000s of profiles to find your suitable match . Filter by area, age, breed, gender and more.

Instantly send messages and meet potential breeders face to face.

What are you thoughts on this?

PS- Just want to say thank you in advance for your opinions- It is greatly appreciated and helpful

    Are you promoting the app?

IME ethical, responsible breeders have a vast network of connections gained through participation in the dog world. Through shows, competitions, events, rescue, training venues etc.

Hi, Thank you for this - is there anything within the technology world that helps with this? I don't think there is anything of that kind

No, I think the app is designed to for breeders to search for other breeders within there local area. People can upload pictures and detailed descriptions of there dogs. similar to platforms like Instagram with the purpose of easy communication and the connivance of doing it through your smart phone. Only breeders with licenses can download the app I believe- it seems like its coming soon -

Does anyone know of something similar? I am a fan of apps I must say!

Perhaps instead of an app you should be looking in to health testing, temperament testing, responsible breeding practices, how to socialize the puppies once they come, finding a mentor who also practices ethical and responsible breeding....

I think that is the point of the App - I’m assuming people who have licences are aware of this ?

There is more to breeding than getting a license, and if I understand the current UK laws correctly, only people breeding multiple times a year need a license, so arguably, the more discerning breeders might not even need one. IOW, a license means precious little when it comes to evaluating if a breeder's practices are ethical and/or responsible.

There is more to breeding than downloading an app and checking a few boxes. People who care about what they're doing put a lot of work in to their dogs before even considering whether or not to breed. There is pedigree research to make sure you are truly making the best match of dog and bitch, there are tests that need to be done by specialists, X-rays, DNA checks, eye exams, heart exams.... and those results need to be evaluated and assessed compared to the other dog being bred. There is temperament to consider, traits in each line, showing or other forms of outside evaluation. If you're going to do it right it take years.

Honestly what you're talking about sounds like BYB pretense.

    Thanks for the info -

It’s an idea that is about to launch and I was interested in what potential opportunities this may bring - I think having various communication methods with people the the dog breeding business is helpful- you may agree to disagree and that’s fine

The app is currently being developed but I would like feedback from others regarding the idea - as a whole - it may not be needed in the industry which would be good to know

When I was breeding, I had an extremely experienced mentor, a lady who had owned, showed and judged the breed for many years and who bred beautiful, typy dogs with good temperaments.

Any advice I needed or wanted, I got from her.

I certainly would not have been advised by random strangers through an app.
