hi I'm new here, just wondering if there are some breeders out there who can help figure out my little milo's type of breed please.
(We plan to get this done properly by DNA tests?)
When we brought him home he was pure white apart from his little black nose. Now two weeks later his spots have appeared, little black dots all over him, like a dalmatian. Tried to get a photo today he doesn't keep very still . First photo is the day he came home, other photos are today at bath time. Hope this is ok to post and some one can tell me what they think? Just out of curiosity Thanks

What were you told? It's hard to tell with young puppies, they change so much as they grow up. I know lots of very cute white spotty staffies :)

Thanks every one. His mum was a brown and white staffy. His dad was an American bulldog ginger with white chest. But we never met the other pups as he was the last one to be homed (had to delay it by a week due to moving) I can't see any bulldog in him yet?

He's an extreme piebald (i.e. he's got white patches that are so extensive he appears completely white) and it's very common for piebald dogs to develop more small spots as they age. This page explains the genetics of it all really well.

As an aside, has his hearing been tested? A lack of pigment around the ears can affect the development of the inner ear leading to deafness.

A vet can do a simple test to check whether the pup has some hearing (in fact you can do this yourself by seeing if your puppy reacts to sounds) but there's a proper test called the Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) test which can absolutely confirm whether a puppy or dog has full hearing in both ears however it would need to be done by a specialist. Unilateral deafness (i.e. only being deaf in one ear) can be hard to detect just by seeing how the puppy/dog reacts to sounds but equally it's not necessarily a huge problem, just something to be aware of as it can affect things like recall if they can't hear you from one side. Plenty of extreme piebald dogs have perfectly fine hearing so don't panic too much, but it is worth getting him checked out just in case.

Ideally the breeder should have had the BAER test done on the white puppy/puppies before allowing them to go to their new homes.

He is very cute. Just a point as you say you are planning on getting a DNA test done. The breed ones are very unreliable and even come up with dogs that do not exist in this country. By all means have one done but take it with a huge pinch of salt and just do it for fun.

On Watchdog last week they were looking at the accuracy of DNA and even shook one in of a human presenter. His DNA test came back saying he was a Cockapoo!!

Aww super cute, I know a litter of mixed pups who were born their colour and changed as they grew to such Extreme that one went to the doggy parlor black and white and came out black and brown, his sister was also black and white but is now blue (silver) other siblings were born sable or red and are now a metallic coppery colour. Amazing the coats.
