A few months ago I got a pet canary and a finch, I know it’s quite random to get these two but they were both rehomed from a local pet shop due to going missing and nobody came looking for them. The canary is very bossy and knows how to put the Bengalese finch in its place, but apart from that they get along, the finch REALLY enjoys the canary pruning him, he always stands next to the canary waiting to be pruned. However, now I am noticing that the finch is losing quite a few feathers around the bum area. The thing is, the finch still asks to be pruned and doesn’t show any sign of discomfort which makes it seem like the plucking of bum feathers is unintentional, however I’m concerned.

What do you guys think I should do?

I would suggest you to keep them in separate cages. And after that, maybe you should consider buying another Bengalese finch for him/her. Maybe he/she is stressed!
Have a nice day and good luck with your feathered creatures! :)
