My poor little kitty is poorly.

She is 6 months old today.

Tuesday last week she became really withdrawn, and went off her food. She picked a little corner upstairs and stayed in it and didn’t want to move from there and seems ever so sad. When she did move, she was very slow and not running around. She also seemed really hot.

The next day, we booked her into the Vet for last Thursday and she had an antibiotic injection (a long lasting one, to last 2 weeks).

She picked up on Friday, and I thought great, she was moving around again and eating.

Sunday, she seems to go back again, didn’t come downstairs all day. But did come down for food and seems to be eating it. Her 3rd eyelids came out on Sunday as well, so I thought oh no, something is definitely not right, but was confused as she still was eating.

I took the day off work yesterday to look after her and phoned the vet who said I should probably give it a bit longer for antibiotic injection to work. I am so worried though, but they didn't seem very concerned, as she is eating.

She seems so sad though. Does any body have any tips / ideas of things I can do to help her recover or feel more comfortable, She won’t drink the water I have taken up for her. (they eat wet food only so I’m not too worried about dehydration).

The vet hasn’t actually said what they think is wrong with her, they said probably a “bug” and antibiotics will do the trick. But what if it isn’t? Could she have eaten something that’s stuck in her tummy? :(

I'm no expert but I would have thought that the antibiotic should have started to have an effect before now. Tiffany has had a few of these and I have noticed improvements within about 48 hours. Maybe a second opinion form a different vet?

Is her belly swollen at all?

I'd take her back to the vet for another check up and maybe an X-Ray.

If it's bacterial she should certainly be showing improvement by now.

Take her back to the vet - or find another vet!

She went to the vet today, they are keeping her in. They did blood tests there which were inconclusive, so now are sending samples to a specialist lab to test for FIV, FIP, FELV and toxoplasmosis. Really worried, she was so poorly this morning :(

I know she is in the best place now but I really hope she is Okay and praying it's not FIP?

    xx

No update yet - will go and see her tomorrow. They said could be a few days for results to come back from Lab.

I feel bad now that I phoned them on Monday and didn't take her in, but they said as she was eating I should keep and eye on her and let them know if she got any worse and then last night she seemed to just get worse all of a sudden during the night she just went really downhill.

We took her on the thurs and she improved Fri and Sat and I thought Great shes recovering and then this all happened from Mon, but Monday she wasnt so bad, just slightly and as i say, it seems to have just got worse literally over night.

Really missing her and hope she is ok...

She has had the normal vaccinations for leukemia and enteritis etc.

This morning, she was wobbly on her legs and her head was all wobbly, by the time we got her to the vets she could barely stand up and was really disorientated.

    :(

All the test results came back and they ruled out Leukemia, FIV, FIP / Corona Virus and Toxoplasmosis. So it’s none of those things. We went to get her from the vets Friday night and they said to just continue to give her the antibiotics, as she seems more stable and to just see if there is any more improvement.

When we got her home, she is loads better in herself, she has a good appetite, but was very wonky for he first day – always leaning and falling over to the left.

We then noticed, that she couldn’t close her left eye. She also can not move her left ear. And when she meiows, her left side does not open very well 

We took her back to the vets again, and they are baffled. They said other than sending her for an MSRI Scan (which would cost over £2000) the can try her on steroids, which could make her better. Or worse.

With the face paralysis thing, they were keen to try the steroids, so she had her first dose of those yesterday – just keeping an eye on her now to make sure they don’t effect her in a bad way.

She’s learning to get along with the lack of coordination and is correcting herself and is back to jumping around – although still falls over when she tries to do something too fast?

We are due to take her back on Fri eve after a couple of days of steroids.

We are so confused, as is the vet. We are a loss what to do now. Just have to see what they say on Friday!

I did take out insurance for her – but she happened to fall ill in the 2 week waiting period they have from taking out the policy – so we can not claim for anything relating to this…

I just want her better and back to normal, the poor little thing ...

I am no expert but with disorientation and left side weakness I would suspect a heart problem, maybe? If she was a person I would have said she'd had a stroke.

It does sound like a stroke.
