Not the best picture, but this is Luffy. 6.5 weeks old. Half golden retriever, half golden lab.

    She's so cute ^_^

    Lovely, very cute.

I have always wanted to do this but i cant quite allow myself to agree that they should leave mum so early.

    Oh she is lovely :)

  6. She is so cute. I am shocked that they would be taken from mum this early though as I thought that the extra two weeks were vital in helping the puppy learn good behaviours from mum and litter mates.

It is young. Obviously, they make sure we're strict on teaching things they would have otherwise learnt from litter mates - biting etc. I think they do it this early because they need to be settled in the home ready to be taken into shops etc at 7 ish weeks, so they learn to accept people and shops and noisy environments etc etc before they have any chance to learn differently. The earlier they're socialised - which for guide dogs is even more important and even more varied than pet pups - , the easier it is. I think those are the reasons anyway :p All I know for certain is that the pups are never taken before 6 weeks, and are placed with the pup walkers between 6 and 7 weeks earliest. They hold on to them if they've got any issues that need looking into, and might be delivered between 7 and 8 weeks, or something. But the majority of pups come at this age.

Her eyes are still blue. They're just gorgeous ^_^ and her face is wrinkly and squishy. Love it.

What a little stunner. Guide dogs always amaze me how well trained and clever they are. Must be an awful lot of hard work. How long will you have her for?

They normally go for the next stage of training at about 13 months old, so I'll have her about a year.

She's slept most of today so far, but is very cheeky when she's playing. so much fun. And only one baby accident in the kitchen :p

    Ah she's so cute.

I knew someone who did this and their dog became a stud dog so they got to keep him :)
