Hi all... I'm a tad busy at the mo so not around much lately but I have registered Poppy and Lady as Pets As Therapy dogs!! I have to go for the assessment but they should (hopefully) pass with flying colours and then we go visiting! I can't wait...it will be so good for them, they people they visit and for me, I know when I was very poorly I would have LOVED to see a furry friend to cheer me up!!!!!!!!!

Anyone had any experience of PATs? xxxxx:D

Not had any experience with PAT dogs but my grandma's retired guide dog was also a PAT dog and she absolutely craves attention but is the best company when you feel a bit sad, so good luck with you and your dogs for the assessment!

I'd love to do something like this with our dogs they make a lot of difference to people's lives. I hope they both qualify.

Good luck! Let us know how they get on and what the assessment entailed! I'd be quite interested in getting Henry involved when he is old enough!

    Welcome to Pets As Therapy

Have a look at their website, dogs have to be a minimum of 9 months old and with you as an owner for at least 6 months. I have the assessment form here and it all seems straight forward! just to see whether the dog has the right temperament and reacts well to various situations...

If those are the requirements for PAT dogs I'm guessing the New Zealand version would have similar requirements. I'll have to go look it up because they can do all of those.
