What is the best type of harness for a 13 week old kitten?
Rupert is a little tinker, when the older cat goes out he wants to follow, which is fine, but hes only little and as my other half lives backed on to open fields, we are worried that he will go and not know how to get back again.
Yesterday he went out on the same type of lead that Merlin goes out on, which just clips onto his collar, but something spooked him and he managed to unclip the lead and run - I managed to catch him and calm him down, but it worried me sick he was going to scarper and get lost.
So what would be the best thing to put him in at this young age?
Normally he is fine, he wanders about exploring everything, chasing the flys and ambushing the ants, but that one time he spooked.
He had his first set of jabs at the vets today, and hes thriving.

I use a kitten harness on Mai Tai and attach a Flexi lead so that she can have more freedom to explore. Similar to this:
Kitten harness pink on eBay (end time 11-Jun-10 17:45:31 BST)
FLEXI DOG LEAD MINI SIZE 1 10FT on eBay (end time 13-Jun-10 11:53:31 BST)
The harness goes round her neck and round her chest and the lead attaches to a strap which joins the two.

Thankyou that looks a bit less "escapable" and it shouldnt take him long to get used to it hopefully, he was wearing his little collar all day 3 days after we got him at 10 weeks old.

I would try a walking jacket, there's a UK company that makes them and they do lettering too

Walking jacket's are much more secure than regular cat harnesses and together with a long line (some people use washing line cord) or flexi should be fine.

I like the look of those :thumbup: Haven't seen them before. I was looking at a Rogz harness but not sure if they would be small enough for my Siamese. I will be investigating the Happy house cat walking jacket!
