    hy everyone
new to this forum i hope someone can help
i have recently got myself a miniture dachshund she is nearly 3yrs old
    she is fantastic so pretty
she came from a breeder as she had "puppy fail" she was no good as a breeding dog so i bought her
she has settled in well with us but we cannot get her to eat dog food
    i have tried
    bakers complete
    bakers puppy food
    tinned dog food
    trays of dog food
    all she will eat is
fresh chicken.corned beef pasta and cheese
i have been told not to give her dairy products so no more cheese
she is so tiny and seems to have lost a little bit of weight
she loves going for walks and playing around the house
sleeps well is completly house trained and apart from the feeding problem she is great
    hope someone can help
    thnaks from pat

Do you know what food she was on before you got her? She may be fussy and not want to change.

How long have you had her? She could be stressed by the move/change of scenery.

I would check it out with the vets though as there could be a medical problem. Fingers crossed its not but its better to be safe than sorry!

I agree with above but also you seem to have tried a lot of things already and maybe you need to do the 10 minute rule and stick to one food for a few weeks at a time before changing again, you out her food down. leave it for 10 minutes then take it up until the next meal with no titbits in between at all. You usually find that within a couple of days of missed meals they start to eat better.

They are like children really they soon learn that if they refuse to eat they get offered something better next meal so they eat that a couple of times then refuse to see what else is offered and so it goes on and they have 'trained' you perfectly to 'cook' for them!! LOL ;)

    thanks for that
as i said she will eat fresh chicken corned beef and cheese and pasta but as i have been told not to give her cheese thats sommat less
i think she is trying us to see how far we will go
she has come from a small holding where they breed loads of diffrent dogs
she was well looked after living in the home with the breeders
so i thnk she is a bit stressed
out of interest why cant she have dairy products

10 minute rule!! I forgot about that, its a great way to get em to stop being fussy!

No idea about the dairy products to be honest, I expect its something to do with the lactose.
