    Hello!

I have 2 Maine Coons - male and female and they’re 5 years old. I just wondered about something that has always puzzled me - their manes.

Everything I read says they get their full mane in the winter and shed in the summer, but my two are the exact opposite. They shed in the winter and have huge manes at the height of summer! Has anyone else experienced this reverse in shedding cycle?!

    Thanks so much!

I don't have a Maine Coon but yes that can happen with long haired cats. One summer my long haired cat had a thicker coat.

I don’t have Maine coons (I have Somalis) but one of mine is the same. He usually has a full mane in summer and shorter in winter.
