    Hi everyone.
I have a Maine coon kitten, he is 3 months old but he weighs only 1,7kg.
In your opinion is it normal?

That is on the smaller side, but I wouldn't worry too much if he's eating and toileting well, and isn't overly thin

I'd even say 1,7kg is rather a lot for a 3 month old kitten, but probably not abnormal as Maine coons become very large cats (I've heard they take several years to reach their full size though).

1.7kg is on the smaller side for an MC, my girls were 1.8 and 1.9kg at 3 months. They are large cats from kittenhood

Have you asked your breeder what's average for the lines?

It can be normal, not all Maine Coons are big

No, your kitten shouldn't necessarily weigh 2kg at 3 months. There's no magic weight a kitten is expected to be at a certain age, they're all individual. None of my Maine Coons have weighed 2kg at 3 months, not even my males.

It's impossible to predict the size of your kitten as an adult, this is something you need to discuss with your breeder.

If your kitten has a good body score and tone, is eating and toileting normally, and is well, then you don't need to be worried

If your kitten is eating, growing and not underweight I'd not worry. He should feel heavy for his size, though it's less obvious in fluffy cats because of the fluff.

Also unless you brought him from a breeder who registers their kittens he might not be as much Maine Coon as you think.
