Hey all. Just wondered for any Maine coon owners, do you allow your cat out or do you keep them indoors? My understanding is that many are kept as house cats for various reasons. We are yet to get a cat, we love the breed but my partner and I can’t agree on whether he should be allowed out or not. He thinks it’s cruel to keep a cat inside whereas I’d be worried about him out. What do you guys do?

As far as I'm concerned it is of no importance whether a cat is a specific breed or a moggie no cat should be allowed to free roam ,it just isnt safe nor is it fair to allow a pet to wander onto other peoples property , not everyone likes cats.
All my cats have been indoor only although my now 13 yearold Ragdoll has a run in the garden which has access via a tunnel from the house.
All the others were moggies and were perfectly happy as indoor cats,only Bumble who was a semi feral stray had any outdoor freedom but he was happy enough staying close to home as he had lived in a shed for a while before being able to move in.
