im not a big marshmellow fan, i was thinking of trying to put some tiny peices of apple in, but i thought they wont work as they are only in the oven 10 mins so the apple will be hard??

Maybe you can use dried apple pieces and soak them before adding them to the batter? Candied orange peel cut up is also very nice with the choc chip :)
