i have a lone male quail - did have female also a year or so back. i have been trying to get 2 feamales to keep him company but pet shops will not sell me seperate birds only in pairs but i think this will mean the males will fight. any ideas of what to do. i must say he seems happy on hes own with finches and canarys for company.

Where in the country are you?

You are correct...don't get another male without loads of room...they can and do kill each other.

If you can't get hens he's better on his own...although it is a shame he has no mate.
