Does anyone know what type of license it is people need to get to be able to get certain meats from the abattoir? I have tried looking online but haven't yet found the right one...

Don't think you do need one. I'm pretty sure Sleeping Lion explained it in a post some time ago. Maybe pm her, I can't remember the details.

Yes, you do need a licence to collect meat from the abattoir, or any waste produce from a butchers technically. The DEFRA website has changed since I applied for mine, I'll dig out my licence when I go upstairs and post the details for you.

Just checked, the form I've got is an AB117 - if I change address I need to notify them, it's just for their records so they know who is transporting/storing/using animal by products.

Yes, I've been told this too & I'm pretty sure that here in Scotland that they come out to do an inspection before its issued to make sure you understand cross contamination etc.. & have your freezers organised ... something along those lines anyway. They were very helpful when I enquired a few years back.

No inspection here, but if you get stuck filling the form in you can just give them a ring and they will go through it with you over the phone :)
