oh thanks for all of those links :)

hmmm im wondering which would be best.

a leather or a nylon collar half check collar!!!

i have always used nylon collars.

are leather collars easy to keep clean?

    do they last longer?

a have already got a half check nylon collar - however it is the one witht he clip - so since i have had it quite a while, im paranoide it might break, so thier fore it is a perfect excuse to buy her a new collar. :)

she has also got a new nylon collars - however the clip bit rubs and iratates her coat and skin.

so thats why i want a half check collar instead :)

Mine is the one with the clip too, I've only taken her out a couple of times with it as she is in season at the mo but it seems good.

If I can find a leather one at a reasonable price (I don't like to buy off ebay and sites I don't know) I'll get one :D

I'll keep an eye on her skin too, thanks x

We bought a leather half check collar for my old GSD he was PTS 3 years ago when he was nearly 10 years old. My greyhound William sometimes wears it now it must be more than 10 years old as Beethoven was only young when I bought it for him and its still going strong.

I usually only use ebay for buying things online, if another site then I use paypal as I have never had any problems with it and been using it for years.

I haven't used a leather half check, I was going to but decided against it.

I have used nylon and chain ones woth and without an easy clip, and full nylon ones. Out of these I would say I prefer the nylon and chain wth easy clip (like they sell in pets at home).

Mainly because Dave broke his nylon collar  He had been swimming and the buckle just came off! (It was a cheap one).

So I put his lead through the handle and had to manage with him like that until I got to the pet shop, where I managed to find a studded leather one that fit :)

I will end up getting him a leather half choke... Just gotta wait until I had this one a while or my OH will say something! :D Lol!

No :) although I do prefer to use a slip lead than a half choke. I had a slip rope for Dixie but it was quite thick and burned my hands when she pulled!
I got a thinner one, but it also was uncomfortable, so I just cut the handle off, and attached a D ring so I can clip a comfy lead on :D
