Hi debbsygirl! The most suitable option is the schooling / dressage whip. These are longer in length with a tassel on the end. This design enables the rider to keep their hands on the reins whilst using the whip on the rear or shoulder of the horse.

I always use a schooling whip, Makes life alot easier especially when you are trying to concentrate on you and the horse and not having to take your hands off when using a crop!
I found using a crop made me concentrate on that more than my riding so I swapped to a schooling whip and it is so much easier!! :thumbup:
