Sounds interesting, smaller risks would definitely be better and less pain aswell! My only worry would be is there still a chance of uterine cancer? I'm not clued up on it in cats!

Haven't reached this part of my course yet but I would assume it's the hormones from the ovaries that influence the onset of uterine cancer so with them gone it shouldn't occur, or certainly with a much much reduced rate.

That's what I was thinking from other reading I've done.

Do you happen to know any statistics on the rate of uterine cancer in cats? I've long been wondering if it's higher than in humans.

Not sure about uterine cancer rates but spaying reduces the risk of mammary cancer by up to 50% (80% of mammary cancers are malignant in cats). Uterine cancer is pretty rare though and are pretty much all malignant adenocarcinomas.
