Just watching a doc on LS Lowry (I've a special interest as he lived on the street I grew up on!)

Why won't the Tate show his works? They've got 23 of his paintings but won't show them???

    Isn't that odd?

I wouldn't say it's odd, but I do find it selfish. I love Lowry's work, one of my favourite artists :) I plan on catching up on that documentary, was it any good? I've been to The Lowry and his 'pencil portraits' are beautiful.

yeah, the doc was good - although someone said that Lowry said Mottram (where he lived) was boring! (I missed this first bit!).. How rude! that's where I grew up... wasn't boring! There's a blue plaque on the house he lived in.
I remember my doctors surgery having prints of his paintings in the waiting rooms... x

There's even a statue thingy in the centre of Mottram (it's a small village) with him on it:

That's fantastic! My Granddad used to dress a bit like that :D I'll catch up with that documentary sometime tomorrow. Here's a recent article on the Tate and Lowry's works, related to the documentary:
