We have a girl in labour, 4 babies so far. 1-3 are fine, active and starting to feed, number 4 had a bowel movement during delivery and still inside mum. Baby delivered and now has quite rapid, shallow breathing. Airways have been "sucked" with the aspirator and "swung". Has anyone had any experience of this?

I'm hoping that it's just a case of baby being a little distressed and will settle down now he's with mum. Keep everything crossed that he pulls through. I've experienced human babies aspirating mecconium (never good news) but never with a kitten.

    Any other suggestions??

Phew! Kitten now settled well and fighting at the milk bar with his sisters and brother. Breathing appears normal. Looks like we have an even split of 2 boys and 2 girls! Still waiting to see if there are any more waiting to make an appearance.

I've never had a kitten do a poo before it's even born before! Mums cleaning him up well but he still has a funny coloured back half. Bless ... He looks like a "cut and shut" kitten, pure White on the front to his waist and green/brown from the waist down. I hope it doesn't influence his name choice ;)
