    Hiya,
So we got two new kittens over the weekend. The ginger boy is meant to be 8 weeks and 3 days now but he seems too small. In the picture is the older girl kitten who's 9 weeks 2 days.
We just wondered if the ginger is younger than 8 weeks? His current weight comparison makes him 6 weeks,
Any suggestions on his age would be great thanks!

A photo of his front might help to tell his age better than his back?
I would like to see the eye colour?

It's pretty much impossible to age a kitten from a photo, however if that girl is nine weeks old then there is no way the ginger is 8 weeks old unless there is something amiss with him.

My guess would be 6 weeks, such a tiny baby.

I couldn't help but notice the kibble. Please get them on a wet diet. Kittens need wet food. And you might want to get them some glass dishes. Plastic can cause a lot of problems. :)

Got them from where? BYB's are notorious for fudging ages, just one reason not to support them.
At least you have 2 since both are far too young to be away from their mums & littermates.

Weight is generally a better way to guestimate age.

How are they doing? Happy and gaining weight?

My Choccy was half the size of his sisters. I had them from about 4 days old so I know their birth date and that they were fed the same. The vet even asked if they were the same litter at 12 weeks! It took him a while but he caught up.

Got them from a pets4homes advert, there were a litter of them all together with the mum and dad. But he seemed so small! Yeah I'm happy they've got each other. He really loves her and sleeps on her and she's really good with him. He also loves to sit on your lap. They seem happy, playing and snoozing alot :) just feel sorry for him, with the previous owners lying like that!

So his weight is just over 700g. I've been monitoring it every other day and he's gaining weight which is a relief. But they're both started to have diarrhoea. Any ideas why this could be??

Yeah they're both gaining weight, I weight them every other day, keeping an eye on it. He's had a runny poop since he came. And the girl grey has just started throwing up the past couple days. She did used to have normal poops but has diarrhoea too now. They're going the vets Monday for check ups. Any advice of what I can do in the meantime to relieve their little tummy's??

Until you see the vet a bland diet - poached chicken or fish. No treats, no 'kitten milk' etc.

You can estimate age from 100g at birth plus 100g per week, so 700g is about right for a 6 week old kitten.

I doubt these kittens have been wormed, but the vet will go through that.

All the best, looking as he needs TLC but in good hands should do well and will grow into very handsome ginger x
