Oh, yes as others have said do you have other vets, I know we have a mobile vet here and he is seeing/dealing with animals in their gardens as he's been to the MIL's, if not I would ask if you can go in, if not then in the car, I could not and would not leave my animal at the time.

I went in to my local vet on Tuesday, to pay for the tests and had another talk about euthanasia there. They have one larger consulting room, big enough for people to stay 2m apart, and they said I could be in there with her, and they'd administer the anaesthetic through a long tube, so I could be holding her as it's injected - they've starting using it this week like that. Although having her pts at home has some advantage, one thing about it that bothers me is that I don't know the person who would be doing it. I'd rather, in a way, that my normal vet does it; she euthanised Ziggy and I know it was done with care and compassion. Haven't fully decided yet, but I think I'll go with my local vet practice.
Kite is still enjoying her walks (wants to run after a ball with the others, but can't because she might rupture either tumour so is on lead) and eating, but is clearly finding it difficult to lie comfortably. She's tiring quite easily, breathing faster; it won't be long.

I’m sorry to read this. But I’m glad you have the option to go to your own vet. Lots of virtual hugs from me & Nova.

The time came yesterday. She was withdrawn, wouldn't eat her morning meal and spent the day lying on her side trying to get comfortable, so she was pts at the end of the afternoon. I was with her at the vet, holding her and then buried her in the garden next to my outdoor table and chair so she'll be near me. I had been thinking of moving in a couple of years, but will have to stay here now. My vet was great. Flossie and Fly had a good sniff when I got Kite home, and I had plenty of time to sit stroking her before burial.
I thought about the Cloud 9 people, but you have to pre-book with them or pay a big surcharge for same day; but the thing that got to me when thinking about it is, what sort of person makes a career going round euthanising pets, rather than making them better? I don't know if their vets do 'normal' vet work as well, but don't see how they could fit it all in.
    Please no rainbow bridge crap.
I'm going to get a tattoo of her.

I’m glad you had a little more time with her before she decided it was time to go.

    So sorry you've lost her.
Tango's rose bush has burst into flower again this week, it always makes her feel closer.

So sorry. But it sounds like the experience was as good as it could have been. I have to say however sad it is, I always feel like them slipping away in peaceful sleep is exactly that, peaceful and dignified, and it makes the experience more bearable.
    She will be missed.

A tattoo is a lovely idea. I have two paw prints for my childhood dogs who passed when I was 19 with their names underneath.
