So sorry that you have to face this agonizing decision. Even if you know what's going on, it really doesn't make it any easier

Im shocked just reading your news.
Can’t imagine how you must feel.
Give Kite a gentle hug and have one yourself.
    Thinking of you both

One thing that is difficult is that the vet isn't letting clients in with the animals, and I won't let Kite be taken from me to die - I have to be there for her. She had to be dragged away for the tests. Looks like we'll end up doing it in the car park.

Our vet is allowing family members into the surgery for pts providing they wear a mask. Alternatively, ask them to come to you at home.

Can you ask your Vet to come to your home. All of mine, apart from one, have been pts with me, in their own homes, and had no stress at the last, and I’m sure they died peacefully.
So sad to be part of this conversation .

    oh no :(

would the vet come to you? My Nan had to have her Lurcher PTS during lockdown and the vet came out and did it at home in the garden. Very peaceful she said.

I was at the vets the other week and they were doing a PTS in the car park. The owners weren't crying or particularly sad looking though (in fact they were chuckling away at something). It was the carrying of the body across the car park to the actual surgery that seemed the worst bit, not sure why they couldn't have parked closer as there's a special parking space closer to the surgery that is surely for this circumstance? Anyway, they maybe had there reasons.
I personally would insist on being there, and I'm sure they make allowances for this sort of thing. I really hope you can go into the surgery with her, or at least sort something out.

I 'm so sorry to hear your news.

Do Dignipets operate in your area (sorry, no idea where you are)? Alternatively as some have said, vets are doing home calls and social distancing once they get there. My sister had hers out to her cat and said she felt very safe and more importantly, Millie was relaxed.

    xx

I am so so sorry, cherish the time left, and yes see if the vet will visit you when the time comes.

I had to have my dog put to sleep at the vets and the vet let us in to be with him.

Different vet perhaps? This is what our vet has as their disclaimer prior to booking an appointment online.
