I took Kite to the vet today to have her checked over for the leakage she's been having, now the vet allows owners in. Pee sample came back as unusually dilute, but no sign of UTI. Bladder felt enlarged. Vet took a blood sample, showed raised white count and low red count, kidney function OK but at the less good end of normal. So vet recommended an ultrasound, and it turned out that the abdominal ultrasound chap could stop off on route between other consultations, and found that one of her kidneys is several times the size it should be, taking up nearly half of her abdomen and pressing on her bladder - that's what the vet could feel, and there's another tumour on her spleen, most likely a hemangiosarcoma which is also large and might rupture any time. Vet said she might last last 6 weeks or so before going into organ failure, but of course I won't let it go on that long. She can have gentle lead walks, no running or jumping which could cause either tumour to rupture. It's come from left field, It looked like the loss of bladder control that's so common in older bitches. I took her in expecting to go home with a bottle of Propalin.
