I have been woken up with the dogs barking at a loud tapping noise at about 7.00 every morning. This morning I was up early with my remaining pup and heard the tapping again. I went out onto the landing and there on the ledge outside the window was a magpie. He was'nt after insects as he was tapping the middle of the window. I have seen him a few times on the ledge outside the livingroom window just walking along and hopping down. I said to my oh jokingly that hes most probably been trained to burgle peoples houses lol. He just looked at me stupid. I have heard of magpies stealing shiny things though so I'm not mad in that respect ;) He could have been hand reared and is just wanting a bit of human interaction!!! What do you think???

Go to my town at dusk. The jackdaws perch by their hundreds in the graveyard near the square. Now thats eerie!!! The noise they make when settling down :D

It goes back a long way, someone once told me that a lone magpie was one that had lost its mate so was sorrowful as they supposedly mate for life
