Hi my cat has been missing for a week and I have just got her out of a neighbours garage. She has obviously lost weight and she is also dehydrated is there anything that I can give her until I can get her checked out tomorrow. I have given her a small amount of food and unlimited water. I wasn't sure if I should let her have a large amount of food as I have heard it can cause problems if they haven't eaten for a long time. Any advice?

Try some bland food like chicken or fish. You're right in feeding her a small amount.

You can make up a rehydration mix at home, but i cant for the life of me remember how.

    What are her gums like?

Its hard to tell as she has just had some water, but they are a little tacky but not too pale. I am just cooking her a chicken breast.

She should be ok until tomorrow then. Cats are generally paler than dogs.

You must be relieved to have her back.

Glad to hear that she is home safe!

I volunteer for the RSPCA and come across many cats that have not eaten well for a period of time.

What I would suggest is give her LOTS of water as she may well be dehydrated and in terms of food offer small amounts of food at a time.
You don't want to give her anything too rich as it may upset her tummy.
Diet food or sensitive food is the best but if you do not have any in then pieces of cooked chicken or scrambled egg can work wonders.

Oh god yeah we are so pleased :D. She went missing when the weather was bad so we assumed that she had got scared and ran to somewhere she didnt know. I must admit we were starting to think she wasnt coming back.

My cat does this if i don't let her in quick enough or if it's raining!! Like it's all my fault! LOL

Have you discreetly reminded her that SHE went into the garage!! LOL ;)

Just agree with everyone else little and often food and plenty of ad lib water.

Sure she will be fine now she is home. Bless her!
