My friend casually mentioned that saffi was getting chubby... how rude! (She did mean it in a positive way.. but saffi-cloud was still offfended) but is she really getting chubby do you guys think?
She looks perfect to me, and to herself.... but we dont want to be doing any diets, ever.
    Some pictures from this weekend

    Agree with @Trixie1
I also replied in the photo thread. Biggles is sometimes called fat by people but he is just many layered fluff. I checked with his vet, who said he is perfect. She said she could feel his ribs, so he is not overweight.

Can't tell from a photo. Have you condition scored her?

Look at him! What a gorgeous boy.

Thank you both. I feel reassured! The first photo made me wonder since the seed has been planted!

I have seen now. I will do that later! The last time I checked she weighed 3.5 kilos and she is 6.

I saw she had put on weight when you posted before and after pics but 3.5kgs is nothing. Even my smallest girls weigh more than that (apart from Darkness at the end and Abs who has really shrunk.) They don't have all that hair!

I think she is a perfect cloud just very fluffy, just the way a cat cloud should be :D

I wouldn’t worry, one of our friends words about Loulou still hunt’s me to this day and he is a Doctor so should have known better

    Ready :(

    “That cat is fat”

Well worth doing the condition scoring.

She is just extra fabulous at the moment, its true! But I will do this condition scoring and I will pop the scales out just to double check, I am also curious now

The point of condition scoring is that the scales only tell you what the cat weighs, not if it's too much or too little. Weight does matter if following the progress of putting the cat on a diet, or when calculating the dose of a drug or getting the right size flea or worm treatment, and it's useful to keep an eye on it, but condition scoring is the only way of knowing if the weight is appropriate.

She’s a very fluffy cat so I doubt she is chubby! She looks gorgeous to me.
According to the condition scoring chart liddy is overweight. She really doesn’t over eat imo. Sometimes I wonder if neutered females can be prone to being a bit bigger.

Body condition scoring is great for short hair cats, a little more difficult for fluffy clouds:p.
Personally I prefer feeling for the ribs. Much easier to score a cat that way

Feeling the ribs is part of it, you can feel for the other parts as well rather than look. Even shorthair cats can have a lot of apparent width added by their coats.

Honestly? In the first pic her tummy reminds me of when Blks just had a telling from the vet about his weight. She looks fine on the other pics, I think tummy shoes are usually more telling though.

    *runs*

I reckon having a look at condition scoring couldn't hurt. There are lots of charts online.
I don't find it an exact science though.

I'm sure the vet would tell you at an actual check up if she's too large. When's she due?

Aww, Saffi is looking very beautiful bless her! (great photos :)) . Honestly WW, at 3.5 kg I can't imagine she is overweight! Both my girls weigh more than that (by another kilo) and they are not overweight using the body scoring chart that OS mentioned. :)

Oh I think I misread that, you mean 6 years old not 6kg don't you?

My vet once told me a way, that seemed quite good for checking body condition, which may be good for fluffy cats where the scoring pics can be difficult:

Lightly feel for their ribs and compare with your hand:
