    Hi all
I'm new to the forum and have just posted in introductions . I wanted to copy the same post here but not sure how to do it so will just write a synopsis here...
We rescued a pup and were told he was a staffy cross..possibly with collie . A couple of people have queried if he is a Patterdale (or at least cross) and I'm starting to wonder this myself now. I've attached a pic and would appreciate any views from people much more knowledgeable than me as to what he might be!
    thanks

LOL :) I'm not seeing staffy cross, don't see any collie, and not a whole lot of patterdale either :D
Looks like you got yourself a good old muttdog :)

Hi thanks for your reply! Is there anything you do see in him or just a mix ? (I don't mind at all of course) I think it was the ears with the Patterdale reference people have mentioned!

I think there could be some Jack Russell in there but I don’t see staffy or collie either.

Thanks for your reply. Someone else has said that too.... however he does have long legs and big paws which made me think not so much ...but he could have some in there I suppose!

I love that photo of him asleep - all legs and paws :D

I don't see any Patterdale (they are quite distinctive). I would agree with others in that you have a genuine combination cross breed so there will be a number of possibilities. Could have smooth Collie in there.

He might be collie x JRT. The one I had was an adult rescue so I never saw her as a pup, but she had long legs. The rescue were sure what she was, as she'd originally been handed to them as a pup by a farmer who had a remote farm, a collie bitch and a male JRT.

Thanks for your reply. It will be interesting to see how big he gets and what his build be like too! I'm trying to train him not to be interested in my cat and had read loads of things about Patterdales mostly not being good around cats and it being difficult to train out of them... I know it's all individual and how you bring the pup up anyway.

he's very quick to train and pick things up which is good! ...so far at least

He is VERY cute! I think you'll need to wait another month or so before you see any breeds particularly stick out. The standing photo of him shows a tad of staffy to me, but you can't really tell.

He's very cute, looks like a terrier cross to me but his paws look quite big.
