I have a 4 year Tibetan Terrier bitch that we want to breed from. I have had all the relevent tests done (hip score and eye test, all ok!). But she only seems to season once a year? Do you think she will be able to breed. I have found a stud dog and she is due in season Dec. I am new to breeding, so need a little help.

All bitches seasons are different although the norm is every 6month's..

She could be having what are known as 'dry/silent' seasons.

They are fertile during these seasons and the only way to know for sure is to get her to the vet for cytology and progesterone testing.

Will it effect breeding if she only seasons once a year tho?

She may not be having seasons once a year, read my above post :)

You wouldn't notice silent seasons so may only think she's having them once a year :)

Your pic hasn't come through hun!.
As cav said speak to Tashi she has this breed, I don't know much about the breed itself tbh, I know some breeds can g as long 18 months between season's and still produce pups so I can't see a bitch that comes in every 12 months would have any problems producing pups. My chi is usually every 12 months and I have had 2 litters from her and she produced from the first mating with both litters.

    Take care

    Sarah

Some sighthounds and dogs from hot countries only cycle once a year.
You wont know till you try.
It may not be as easy a delivery as if she was younger, I had a shock when my Irish Terrier had to have a caesar at 4 because she was a very fit well muscled girl and I thought that it would be a doddle. It wasnt.
