For months now she's been a wonderful dog and showing real good signs of maturity but over the last weeks she's been an absolute nightmare! She's started getting on furniture again, being a nightmare to walk as she's started pulling again, chasing everything that moves and getting silly by darting around in circles and lead chewing again, is this a sign of the terrible teens?! She's coming up to a year old. We are getting her spayed next month, would this help calm her down a bit? Or is it just a case of going back to basics?

Shes probably a typical Malamute, puppy hood is usually a doddle compared to adolescence, the hardest part usually comes end of the first year and during the 2nd year. Once they turn 3 it starts to get a little easier again and better still once in full maturity they are a slow maturing breed on the whole.

I would go back to basics and up the training, Mals need ongoing training and socialisation especially in the first three years you really need to get on top of it.

You may need to start to watch her with other dogs too, even with really good early socialisation once they hit adolsecence they can change their attitude and start to be uppity, especially sometimes more with same sexes they can become a bit selective who they like and will take up a challenge if its given. She may well be fine on this score but they can have a change in attitudes mine did.

what type of Dog is She ? if she is anything Like my Cocker jasper he is highly hyper and Full of energy Maybe getting some toys in to kill boredom will help with her hyper side ..I am having the same problem with him getting up on the Settee Ill tell him to get off and he will jump of and get on the other one and Repeat it Somtime's I look at him and think Are you Kidding Me ...he understands what I am saying he is just very stubborn !

She's not as bad really as other malamutes I've heard about and I think part of it is her going through a phantom pregnancy at the moment. Yeah I have started to up her training again and working on basic obedience and general house manners and I am taking her to start the silver award obedience classes next week.

I have definitely noticed a changed with how she is with other dogs particularly when she was in season she became very dog aggressive and tried to go for s number of dogs in our training classes and random dogs out walking. She's better now with dogs just likes a good rough and tumble although when she's had enough she's quick to let them know. I quite often take her to my uncles to play with his boxer and she absolutely loves him but can even start on him especially for food and quite often plays with my next door neighbours pug but indie squashes the poor thing!

She's a malamute so I totally understand on the stubborn front! She will get on the sofa il tell her to get off and she will turn round and bury herself! She's kinda lost interest in toys, only occasionally will she want to play but she loves a kick about with a football in the garden so I mostly do a few mini obedience lessons and upping her exercise!
