As a long-standing member of this forum, I for one am feeling very undervalued by the owners, Vertical Scope, and I suspect I'm not the only one. They have imposed unpopular features, notably the AI, and when challenged they have either offered meaningless wooly answers, ignored the questions completely, or in the case of the 'How Many Reading' label, downright lied to us.
This isn't the way members should be treated.
We know that VS measures the success of a forum by the number of posts it receives. So, I would like to propose something that will show them clearly what happens when they lose the goodwill of the people who keep their forums afloat. I'd like to suggest that for a period of a week, we stop posting unless something is really important. What I have in mind is that we respond, where necessary, to urgent requests for help, but we don't post on any of the other threads, and if something can wait until the end of the week to be answered, we defer replying until then.
In the case of threads that do require immediate answers, perhaps the mods would be kind enough to merge any replies into one post so it doesn't raise the post count by any more than absolutely necessary.
The post count would drop sharply (a bit like VS's stock performance) and I think that gives a very clear message about how unhappy we are with they way they are treating their most valuable resource - the members, those of us who keep this forum alive.
I have discussed this with the active moderators and they support the proposal.
I am posting this in three places; Dog Chat, Cat Chat, and General Chat, to be seen by as many people as possible. I've added a poll at the head of each thread to see if you are supportive of the idea, but please vote only once. If you are in agreement, I will propose a date to start the boycott and at that time, I will also tag VSadmin, because I think it is important that they know what we are doing, and why.
