My eldest lad is 3 in august and has shown now signs that he wants to use the potty, he knows what it is and pretends to go for a wee but he point blank refuses to use it properly!
I decided today that he wouldnt wear his pull ups all day and he has wet himself twice, i have talked to him and asked him if he wants a wee etc and all he does is scream when i mention potty! He is such an intelligent lad and i know he knows what the potty is for but hes refusing to try anything new.

All the mommys and daddys who have potty trained boys have you got any pointers that might make this process a bit easier?

Any pointers will be much appreciated:)

skip the potty and go to the loo? my youngest didnt use he potty... he went straight to the loo.

also he will do it n his own time.. my daughter was 3 1/2 by the time she was potty trained and she decided one day that she didnt want nappies any more x

just a very personal opinion on my part aswell... skip the pull ups and go shopping to get him some great pants that he has chosen. pull ups are in my opinon just a gimmick to get more money out of you.

u can make it FUN :D
Start with dolls (there are dolls that u can feed and then put on toilet/potty for a wee). u can also try and put food coloring in the potty and show him how it changes colour when he goes in it, curiousity might have him more interested in going there ;)

hmmm, i am sure there are like millions of other stuff u can do but this is what I have in mind right now... let me know how it goes, might be able to give other suggestions if it doesnt work (i work with little kids and always give out similar advice to parents :001_smile: ).

That's where u need to get creative, let a doll sit and have a wee, show him how it changed colour, u can also splash some water in there, and then ask him if his would make a different colour... or sthg like that!!! :p

dont show him the treats either.......... make it a lucky dip bag so he doesnt know what he is gonna get.... obv get stuff he will want and like but the suspense of what he might get might do the trick x

print him out little certificates too off the net to put in his bedroom x
