Quite a difference between an ipad and a laptop or computer. Ipad is battery powered and you can't just take the back off them. As far as I'm aware if mie can be fixed only apple know how to get inside it.

How? I can't see anywhere where you can simply just take the back off.

Most reputable independent repairers won’t touch iPod Air’s cos it is incredibly hard to get into without the screen braking and a new screen is very expensive

I enquired just a few weeks ago as my lightning port wasn’t charging
Apple quoted £240 for a service and repair
Independent shop £80 with the warning that if screen broke another £100 on top

You might get one of those small places who is willing to give it a go but they won’t be able to guarantee they won’t break the screen

Mine was 3 years old so didn’t want to spend a fortune on old tech so ended up getting a new one for £330

Dad thinks mie is either 3 or 4 years old. Asked him tonight. In that case then I won't risk taking it somewhere that isn't apple.

The older ones are apparently easier to get into so you might be lucky

Ok I have been informed the back can be taken off now. I just don't want the screen getting broken. Please can you tell me how you take the back off? You seem to know a lot about ipads.

Go back to post 25, I gave you a link to a site which has a video showing how to get the back off an iPad

Not something to be undertaken by just anyone I would think and if Dan would rather trust hers to Apple than an independent repairer I think that's fair enough.
I am going to close this now.
