    Hey everyone! :(
I was just about to go to feed the rabbits when i noticed a plant (which has been put in the window by someone where it shouldnt be!!!!!!!) has fallen over ontop of the degu run :(

The degus are ok but a couple of leaves fell into the cage and when i went in and took to plant away, one of the degus was just finishing nibbling something! :crying:

I think one of the degus has eaten a leaf and i dont know if its bad for them or not?! :crying: Im feeling sick with worry at the moment! what should i do? i posted here because theres not alot of people on the rodent bit :( x

Sorry to hear. I know you must be very worried...
You need to find out what plant it is ?
    Was is a flowering plant ? A houseplant ? What species ?

Some plants and herbs are great for degus, while others are not.
Its impossible to know what to expect without knowing the plant...

If you start to see something strange, dont hesitate to contact the RSPCA.
I hear they have a 24 hr calling system and will be glad to offer free advice.
There are also many exotic veterinarians online that can be contacted and will advise you for free.

Try to find out about the plant, and pay close attention to your degus over the next couple days.

Have you got a picture of the plant, you need to get a picture and post it in general, once you know what type of plant it is you need to ring your vet or google to see if its poisonous for rodents, omg now Im panicking:scared:.

I think if it was bad for them, something would have happened over night with them being so small. (thats what im hoping anyway)

    Ill take a picture now..

Im so annoyed though, as i kept telling my sis and mum to stop putting stuff thats not for the animals in the rabbit room! the plant was suppose to be in the kitchen or outside NOT near any of the fuzzies  x

according to this list: Even Plants Can Be Poisonous

The Jade plant (Crassula argentea) is NOT poisonous...

I think our plant is a poorly kept version of this:

I think im right with the plant name. It looks very similar with the leaves and the thickness of the leaves.. the long branches etc im about 85% sure its okay.

Ill keep an eye on them both.. but im so angry that someone moved the plant in there  i think it was in the window.. and i think bebe managed to get up on to the degu cage in the time i got home and the time i went to feed them (about 30 minutes) then she must have knocked the plant and it fell onto the cage and a couple of leaves fell into the cage.

Im hoping the degu wasnt eating a leaf but if he was i think it wasnt poisonous... poor thing might have a tummy ache tho x

Yes, thats a Jade plant....a dying one at that.
You and your degu are lucky this was a succulent plant.
Most common house plants, are dangerous for degus.

    Glad it wasnt anything toxic.
    You must be relieved :)
