Oh you poor thing. MEN  :(

Can you not try and sleep on the sofa or in another bedroom (or wake him up and see if he stops snoring when he falls back to sleep). I feel for you. I would love to be asleep right now but have been poorly for a few weeks with various things and have such a bad cough that as soon as I lie down, I have a coughing fit :( :(

our sofa is so uncomfortable i'd rather be awake:rolleyes: - i could do with the kids leaving home so that i could pinch one of the bedrooms:D
he is such a grumpy pig if i wake him - he argues black is white that ''how can he be snoring - he's not even asleep''!!
i feel for you with a cough a bed time. i had a cough for nearly two years. my doctor said it was asthma and kept pumping me ful of inhalers that did nothing whatsoever. i lost my voice and damaged the vocal chords through the constant coughing. i ended up having speech therapy at the age of 40!!
it turned out i had lupus and it was affecting my lungs. my doctor is useless to say the least.
i hope you get well soon. it's no joke when you need sleep and all you can do is cough all night

Have you tried ear plugs for yourself and the nostril opening thingies for OH?

Is he overweight?

I'm just awake because I've ruined my sleeping pattern again - it needs to be sorted by Monday

Next time you'll have to record him and prove it !! He can take the sofa next time he won't let you sleep lol !!

This cough is really annoying me now. I've had gastroenteritis for the last couple of weeks (*apparently* - don't get me started lol) and a really bad sore throat and cough. I'm convinced I have a throat infection but doctor says its because of being sick that its inflamed my throat

i have no faith in my doctor at all. trouble is that i don't know where there is a decent one around here. it's so frustrating. when i had my cough i used to suck on a throat lozenger - daft really because i suppose i could have choked but it helped me get to sleep having something to stop my throat drying out.

i tried everything in the past but couldn't find anything that worked. i tend to wrap the duvet and pillow around my head, covering my ears to try to dull the sound. sometimes i manage to fall asleep but i have just given up tonight. he's not overweight - he's just a pain in the a***.

Must admit I keep going from one doctor to the other in my GP practice just trying to get some answers. I appreciate they don't know everything but when I've asked to be referred to a specialist etc, they don't seem to want to do it. All I want is answers?!

Ooooh that may work. Need to search my flat to try and find one though lol

Í snore terribly so much that I sometimes wake myself up.
Its a side effect from thyroid disease which can cause a floppiness in the tissue at the back of the throat and snoring.

Has your OH been checked for things like low thyroid count or a crooked or soft nasal septum which could cause problems?

If it is medical then unless a doctor is willing to help theres not much the snorer can do about it but having a partner who moans or blames you for their lack of sleep wont help .. Ear plugs can be the best solution short of sleeping in seperate rooms...

i don't moan to him.. i go downstairs and stay out of the way. if he asks me where i have been i tell him where and why but it doesn't worry him. he won't go to the doctors to be checked out so i think i'd be entitled to moan anyway. my dad always snored really bad. he would keep the whole house awake when we were kids and lived at home. my mom used to sit and cry all night through lack of sleep. he was having treatment for his heart a number of years ago when they realised he had really bad sleep apnea - he now has a cpap machine for bed and the snoring has gone completely:)

Could he have sleep apnoea? It my be worth a trip to the GP for a referral to the hospital to have investigations.

What is Sleep Apnoea? (Sleep Apnea)

Sleep Apnoea - NHS Choices

I snored and was tired all the time - even though it felt that I was asleep all night I used to wake up tired. When I nearly fell asleep at the wheel when I was dirving I realised I had to get it looked into, and it turned out I had sleep apnoea. I now sleep using a CPAP machine (provided by the NHS) - and the difference it has made is absolutely amazing. I no longer snore; I sleep properly and awake feeling refreshed.

I must be immune to my hubby's snoring because usually I lay in bed reading whilst he is next to me snoring his head off and it doesn't bother me in the slightest

My hubby has the cheek to moan about me sleep talking though if I ever go to bed before him, he told me he was in hysterics last time and was going to record it and post it on facebook.

I hope you managed to get some sleep xxxx

Ugh I feel your pain, my OH snoring sounds like a couple of trucks starting up at once . He is a bit over weight though and only does it when hes on his back.

Is the snoring the same no matter what position he's in?
