I lost my beautiful Border Collie girl Sky (AKA Blue / Bluebird) three weeks ago. I miss her so much and am crying again as I type this.
She was my constant companion from 6 weeks of age - coming to work with me everyday at Crystal Palace Farm as the official farm dog. She loved the horses and ponies mostly but was so good with all the animals there and the public. She had to play ball with everyone and everything.
I had her for sixteen precious years and I often told her I would give up seven of my years to have her for one more.
God bless you my lovely, we will meet again I know it.
I will take good care of your son.XXXXXXXXX

Awww, why cant they live as long as us?

When My dog died almost two years ago [BC aged 16] my son said to me...
''Mum, you have to think of the fantastic 16 years you did have with her... and not on the one day she died''

Its sooooo very hard to stop the crying but I found it helped me tons when I made a 'memory box' stuffed full with all her funny photos, on sad days I look and.... Laugh :)
Hope you will laugh again soon xxxxxxx

Nite nite Sky Bluebird [IMG] - Have great fun at the bridge, and give Lotti a sloppy kiss from me please [IMG]

    Ah Calico,

They leave such a vacuum when they go.

Coincidently it is almost 3 weeks since I had to say goodbye to my best friend Scrabble. We buried him in our garden and today we tried, somewhat illogically given the time of year, to plant a few perennials to make his final resting place look nice until we get to do more when the weather is more suitable.

He used to love Sunday tea time because that often meant he got a bit of our Sunday joint. I was thinking of him tonight as I carved. That's the thing...they become such an integral and happy aspect of our lives that the stupidest, most trivial thing becomes a reminder.

For me most of the reminders are still painful because I miss him so. Happier memories try their best to compensate, but have not yet managed to erase the hurt.

I'm thinking of you tonight because I understand what your feeling.

    RIP Sky.

My heart goes out to you.

The more you loved, the more it hurts.

But 'death' is not the end.

Sky lives on in spirit (See the NDE: Dogs in the afterlife thread) and also in the physical through young Arthur...
