...to appreciate the people of PF and the fantastic advice given on here. Now I'm not looking through rose-tinted glasses as I know sometimes things get heated and from time to time posts might come across as blunt etc., but by and large the advice given on here is sound and people usually admit when they are unsure what advice to give but just want to offer sympathy. What has brought this on? Well I have recently joined a dog group on Facebook and have been quite shocked at some of the advice given out. One example was someone asked for advice regarding a new puppy they had who was distressed at night and wouldn't stop whining (pup was sleeping downstairs in a crate). The advice given by some was to leave the pup to cry as it would eventually give up Another post I saw this morning was from someone whose dog was guarding his food. One person's advice was to attach a house line to the dog, take the food away and if the dog growled to give it a leash correction. This person even had their children taking the food away and doing the same thing! Even more worrying was the amount of people who liked the post. I have said my piece on the discussion and have no idea whether or not I will be taken seriously as a newbie on there, but I really hope that at least it might make someone think otherwise. So yeah, I am glad to be amongst a group of people who offer good advice, and not dangerous advice.
