    Best of luck
    Brilliant on both counts.

I'd love to do PAT, but I just can't get my 2 not to pull at the lead :(

good luck with your assessment and with your fostering. i can honestly say i am having the time of my life fostering!. it was very difficult to see Stella go to her new home - she had fitted so well into our family that i nearly kept her but then i wouldnt have been able to help poor Bertie who was so desperately in need of love and attention.

Thank you, I hope we pass both the assessment and the home check!

I've spoken to the assesser for PAT on the phone, she told me that if Noodles doesnt pass I can work with her daughter who is a behaivourist to get her to pass level! The only thing I am worried about is her "snatching" food.

make sure YOU are calm during your assessment so that she doesnt pick up on any anxiety!

a handy little used command to stop your dog snatching food is to use the word "nicely". you teach it much the same as the leave it.

    1. have a piece of cheese in your hand.
    2. show the dog the cheese and then hold it firm between your fingers as if you are going to feed the dog.
    3. ask her "nicely"
    4. if she snatches,,,do not let her have the cheese
    5. she will probably paw, sniff, lick, scratch, etc to get the cheese but do not let her have it. keep repeating the word nicely until she is softly licking at it and then allow her to take it.

this takes a bit of practise,,,and you get a few nibbles of the fingers in the process....but once learnt it is an excellent way of teaching a food grabber that NICELY is much more rewarding.

Good luck. We're working on Holly to make her good enough to be a PAT dog. She just needs to learn not to pull then hopefully it'll be all good :)
