I adore the cat tree with the palm trees it was well worth the effort!!!!!!
Thanks, it was easily my fav one on zooplus, I love it! Though the house on top has a pretty small door that an adult would struggle to fit through.... tho it screws off leaving a large fully platform so it isnt really an issue

She has all these toys, but I am utterly convinved that none will be as popular as the giant box that the cat tree came in:

:p She isnt allowed it yet tho, if she wants to hide she can do it somewhere I can keep an eye on her

Before Missy came home I went out and bought:
1) scratching post with two platforms just the right height to look out the window from)
2) Plush igloo bed (she had one in the rescue centre)
3) Laser pen
4) Wand toys
5) at least half a dozen different catnip toys

So what does Madam prefer ?

1) for scratching - my sofa, armchairs and carpet
2) for sleeping - my bed
3) prefers to chase the beam from a standard torch and ignores the expensive laser pen o_O
4) totally ignores the wand toys
and for 'chasing' games - screwed up pieces of paper or the knitted ball I made and filled with catnip:)

So I have a basket of toys that never get played with and could have saved myself a shed load of money - aaarghhh

I mentioned earlier in the thread that we only very recently moved into this flat. I am not 100% convinced that my OH had "kitten playground" in mind when she thought about how we would do up our front room/kitchen

But it is her safe room so has to be done. We have lovely ornaments, lamps etc stacked in boxes in the spare bedroom lol will have to stay there until she is older

One nice surprise about this house? It has pull up windows which we knew would be an issue, we figured we would just have to be really strict about it and only open them if we were sure she was locked out of that room (far from ideal - but when renting a house and owning a cat you have to make a sacrifice somewhere) but we discovered they also pull down from the very top (much too high for a clumsy Persian - especially a kitten) so this is absolutely fantastic, we can lock them open a little from the very top and not have to worry about her getting out. Also the front door? We never actually used it even before the cat arrived as the car park etc for this row of houses is at the rear, so we can leave that door permanently locked - at least while she is young

lol no doubt this will be the case, my previous cat showed no interested in any toy - expect one bird toy that hung from a stick. Tho I must admit I have bought some of this stuff because I like it... have no clue if the cat will :p

I had never heard of them before... seems I am the only one lol Sorry to hear that she is unwell :(

I have a problem - my cat wont even come home for another month but I already find myself ordering online crap for virtually no reason!

Here is an example of a "super useful" thing that I bought last night:

Another "must have"

I haven't bought anything sensible like a proper scratching post or a litter tray yet - but she does have an Owl Bed and toy lion :p

I thought that buying the cat, feeding it and covering medical bills was going to be the main cost of pet ownership - I failed to account for how much my OH and I would enjoy scrolling through ebay and zooplus looking at toys :p

I would love to say that my (normally very sensible) OH will curb my enthusiasm but she is just as bad as I am :D I am going to have to take a night job at this rate :p

Meh we already moved house to ensure that we had a cat friendly landlord, if you are going to be that serious about getting a cat? You might aswell stock up on owl beds :D

I bought something similar to the owl bed for one of my cats a few years ago, and it arrived just after my daughter had come to visit for a few days with my grandson who was one at the time. He promptly made a beeline for the owl bed and decided it was his favourite place for a nap. The cat, meanwhile, totally ignored it and preferred the cardboard box that the highchair had come in!

found them very useful when Missy was on the antibiotics - she got a couple if she was a good girl and took her medicine without trying to bite me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I now hold you ALL personally responsible for the fact I've just ordered more toys, a unicorn teddy, more dangly things on rods!

Such a bad influence :)

Maggi loves her unicorn, but only when no one is awake, it appears on the bed on the stairs, anywhere. She also loves wand toys and i have even seen her chase a mouse now. i love the little things like that and that she comes for fuss when i am trying to sleep lol and every day when i go for my nap she appears on the bed by the time i wake. How long do you have to wait now?

yes we have one, she goes and knocks the balls ever so often and then lots in the night before she comes to bed, i am assuming she like the glow in the dark bit

by the way can anyone recommend a particular treat/dry food dispensing toy ? I've had a look on Amazon but there are so many I'm now quite confused ! plus Missy ignores shop bought toys in favour of anything 'hand made' !!!!

favourite toys: currently fidget spinner...kids got theirs! Garfy wanted his too....so obviously what one kid has, the other wants too....

Else he prefers feather on a string, wrapper rolled into a ball, big newspaper balls, bottle tops, string of beads from Christmas tree, little plastic springs....like from party bgs...easy to catch with his flat face...
Wands - yes, but ust to nibble the string...
He likes youtube games for cats! Favourite being "String, string thing"...my monitor is destroyed by his paws!!!
Get him Ipad...:Smug and like every kids will be amused for hours...likes some of my games too..like the crystals...
Catnip sprinkled on scratch posts convinced him ...
he sleeps on picnic chair...or anywhere near me...ironing board is perfect....then we all wear cat fur...:Grumpy
