    Huxley, Fell Terrier, DOB 04.04
    [IMG]

His Story: Huxley was owned by an elderly couple and kept in a chicken run for the first year of his life. He has been cherished for 4 yrs, married to a Jack Russell had a litter. 2 sons were kept and last summer the pack turned on him and have done so since so was separated. Now fostered in a pack .. no problems.

Salient Points: Lived with a pack. Well trained and always loved. Keen hunting instincts so if off lead placed on muzzle.

Advert: Huxley is a brilliant 5 yr old Fell terrier. He has had his life turned upside down losing his home through no fault of his own. Now 5 years old, neutered, vax'd and chipped, his skills matured and "energy" toned down, with 9-10 years ahead. A loving, sociable and well trained dog. He has the Terrier spirit and keenness with keen working instincts so needs to be in a terrier-proofed garden (6ft panel fencing); no cats or small furries. He needs a home where he can enjoy affection, lovely walks and privileges as he is so worthy e.g. likes to sleep on the sofa and run beside the bicycle!

Huxley is very special and was truly loved by his human family. Sadly his canine family took against him and no end of attempts to reverse worked. Here is the list of commands he understands "Sit, down, wait, stay, off, leave, finished, bedtime" The family that offers this lad a home is going to be so over the moon provided they themselves are 'terrier people' and delight in his spirit and gifts. Huxley is now in foster in Richmond, Surrey. Huxley is very affectionate and lovely. Can get in a tizzy in the car or occasionally seeing certain dogs, but on the whole he is your 'brilliant chappie'!

An update from Lynne who is fostering Huxley ...

“Huxley is absolutely absolutely special! He is attentive and has that 'keen' terrier concentration. He is fun and loves to prompt play with the pack or delights in throwing a bone or toy about the garden ... 'puppy play'.

He can be quite strong in his reactions say to noises in the night, people walking by (though in truth he isn't usually the first to start). He isn't too barky, but he has a loud bark and he will talk to you. Huxley is what I call a doggie dog. If you are a not aware of dog language i.e. a dog that has grown up around dogs you can overreact and judge their language. They use voice, mouth and gesture strongly and pitch in with life. They aren't shrinking violets nor should they be owned by them. Huxley is fab and all his interactions are well met by dogs within the pack, but outside it is best to slip a muzzle on him as faint hearted owners will find his pitch a little full on and their dogs also, believing themselves to be human, may also recoil.

Huxley is the very best you can find in a terrier. He is a matured terrier nicely polished off; he sits in his own skin and 'what a gift, what a gift! Oh AND very, very loving. When he makes a beeline for your lap, he is face to face and licking your lips, nostiles and eye lids - 'trying talking on the phone - just try!”
