The MAI Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

The award ceremony is on 17 November. It is one if not the highest accolade a Martial Artist can achieve.

    I'm really proud of him.

I will be going with him :D Our Daughter and Son want to come too so we are enquiring about that.

We both do Shotokan and Freestyle as our main styles but we have trained in various styles of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Brazilian and Philippine. From semi contact to full contact, including weapons (Kobudo, Iaido).

We both hold a Grade A Certificate as World Class Judges/Referees.

Hubby is the former England Karate Manager and I am the former Assistant England Karate Manager of both the WKA and WKC (World Kickboxing Associations).

...and honestly we are really nice people. :D

To be fair Karate encompass various Japanese styles ie Wado Ryu, is just as popular as Shotokan. :D

Your not kidding. To be perfectly honest I retired as we intended to moved here and it felt right. Hubby got itchy feet so we opened up another club at our Local Church.

As a young woman being able to drop into the side splits was quite impressive but it isn't the same now, it actually feels wrong. I used to be able to stand with by back to the wall and lift my leg so high I could touch the wall with my toes. I'm working on it.

It does take a lot out of you, more so when I am teaching than training. When I am training I can work as hard as I want but when I'm teaching I have to give 100%.

Hubby is just an adrenalin junky :D

    Wow!! Many many congrats

My friend got her black belt (not sure what Dan she is now), and she also teaches, although thats on hold for a while as she is waiting for a knee op

She still teaches but feels kinda useless as she can't demonstrate and join in with practical teaching as much as she wants to :(

But I know how long and hard she worked for all her belts - have a fantastic night both of you, and hopefully the Sskmicklets can go too :D
