Howling when left alone?

    Have you tried buying some kong toys? You can stuff them with food and freeze them ready for the morning when you go out, before you leave give him a kong and let him settle with it and then leave without making any kind of fuss, eye contact etc. Don't make it a big deal that you're going out, he should be intent on getting all the food out the kong which should take 30 minutes+ depending on how well you stuff it. He'll probably just settle down after that. An alternative would be crate training if you're not already, you can settle him down in there with a kong and he should sleep afterwards if he's trained to enjoy his crate bedroom. :) Once he's used to the idea of a kong he shouldn't even notice you leaving really so try it out for a few days while you're around, get him used to you leaving the room while he eats from it etc until he's no longer bothered.
