How much have you trained your dog to do?

Just wondering how much you have trained your dog to do?

Whether you do it for fun or serious obedience?

I took my P-JRT to obedience to make her think and learn and to have fun too as she has high energy leavels.

We started 7 weeks ago and I reinforce what we covered in the training class approx 1 hour a day.

She can now sit and stay, down and stay, recall is great, drop down on command, heel, be sent away and place herself on her training mat, sit and stay then come to recall and same with down and stay to recall. Stand, stand and stay and wait and can't think of what else?

It's fantastic, a real difference in her energy levels and she is more focused on the task at hand!! xxx

Just for fun now we do, sit, down and stand stays in and out of sight. Novice and "A" recalls. Retrieves, send aways, scent. search squares. Heelwork at all three speeds off lead and positions in heelwork

As long as you both enjoy it that's all that matters. Aswell as teaching new things it's also good to do the old things around new distractions.

Indeed!! When my JRT is playing with my other dogs I always reinforce commands, she gets distracted easily, but is getting better at recall, drop down, etc when playing around other dogs!!

i remember when i had my crazy collie, he had no recall but he had the most amazing down command. and if he wouldn't come to me. i shout down and that was it he droped to the floor, and i could walk upto him from anywhere and get him. it was 100% solid.

A variety of things. Not all of the dogs can do this but I CBA differentiating which one does this and that :p

Sit, stay, lay down, wait, stop, back, come, up, off, toilet, paw, high five, heel, ssh, bed, away, leave, drop it, out, watch it, enough, fetch it, ok (usually my release command for whatever), go eat your dinner.

Probably more but it took me a while to think of those

Bob sits, stays, waits for his food, lays down, gives paw, fetch, leave & the children have trained him to 'come on then, help with the bins'- he gets hold of a plastic container or cereal packet from the recycling bin & carries it out to the wheelie bins then gives it to the child who is on bin duty that day:)

Merlin does sit, down, stay, recall, walk nicely, speak on command, plays 'dead dog', touches things on command, fetches frisbee/ball, stands straight up on hind legs, waves a paw, shakes paws, sits up and begs and walks backwards! The others just do sit, down, stay, recall & walk nicely apart from Candy who waves a paw and Chucky who speaks on comand. :)

Agility commands, we're learning formal obedience still getting there and quite a few pointless tricks. He loves learning so it's good to teach him different things. Tracking when he's in the harness as well

    Commands:
    Sit
    Down
    Stand
    Stay
    Come
    Fetch
    Heel
    With me (formal heel)
Send away (Sort of still working on that)
    Jump
    Tunnel
    Weave
    A-frame
    Dog walk
    See-saw
    Left
    Right
    Sit pretty
    Dance (on hind legs)
    Paw both sides
    Both paws
    High 5
    Roll over
    Play dead
    Say your prayers
    Spin
    Weave through legs
    Figure 8 through legs
    Bow
    Crawl
Be polite (sits and offers his paw)
    Bed
Wag your tail probably excited voice more than anything
    Leave it

I probably missed one or two. There's a chance he knows way too many tricks

    Otto knows:

    Sit
    Down
    Wait
    Stay
    Heel
    Recall
    Stand
    Spin left and right
    Finish
    Paw (left and right)
    Over (eg stiles)
    Under (eg fences)
    Through (agility tunnels)
    Off
    Up (onto platforms, rocks etc)
    Weave through legs
    Steady
    Emergency halt.

He can also independantly search for and indicate to gun oil (done for my college course) and will be starting agility when he's old enough.

    Alfie knows:
    Sit
    Down
    Stand
    Wait
    Leave
    Hi 5
    Recall.

I only got Alfie from a rescue a couple of months ago so he's a work in progress.:D

Bloody hell! I think my lot are a bit behind compared to you guys

    Lol but anyway;

Rolo: Sit, Paw, Other paw, Down, Up/Dance, Roll over and Stay

Logan: Sit, Paw, Other paw, Down, Roll over. Still working on stay and speak

Bella: Sit, Paw, Other paw, Down, Up, Stay and Speak (She will also occasionally roll over)

Although there are some things they will only do for a treat :D
