i 've read that as well, all well and good if it never goes out and swims in mud and rolls on dead animals and in poo.

i suppose too much shampoo can strip a coat of oils and stuff. what i try to do is let mine dry and brush him out, the mud comes off pretty easy then.
but he is getting a bath today deffo.

My boys get a MINIMUM of one bath a month. They both constantly roll in all things smelly, and i dont want feces in my house or on my bedding.

They have very healthy coats, and no skin issues at all.

Harvey gets a bath every 2 months or so but then he never rolls in any nasty stuff and will even walk around a puddle :D

Pippa has had one bath since I bought her home

Our Bichons get a bath when they need it. My oldest one goes to the groomers every 8-10 weeks and has a bath then but also has a couple in between if he needs it which he usually does. We have had the puppy about 6 weeks now and she's had about 4 baths.

My dogs also have their feet/legs, bums and willys wiped everytime they go to the toilet. Johnsons baby wipes are great.

do you all always use shampoo or sometimes just water?

if mine is just muddy i tend to use plain water and let the mud wash away and rub him dry he hates the hairdryer.

he has only been shampooed twice in 6 months.

    Its only the sheath :D

You'd be amazed what comes off. Plus both mine have this knack of peeing all up their front legs as well.

With bathing, if its mud, i just use plain warm water. If its poo, or they just stink in general, then i use a very mild shampoo. Johnsons baby is what my vet recommends as it doesnt strip the oils as badly, as is very safe. I also like the P@H evening primrose oil one.

See they was saying that all dogs need only bathing 2 a year, but what about flea baths and stuff..?

I have said in many post that we kind of live in the sticks so everywhere ours is walked theres mud, puddles ect..
Plus when ever it rains our garden is flooded!!

I wash mine often, do you think normal dog shampoo would be ok for often baths, or should it be fleaing shampoo..?

Mine gets a bath when the smell gets too bad  well he is a spaniel so is always in mud/water rolling on dead things/poo. So if when dry it will not brush/wipe off he's in the bath. However i do use a very mild shampoo on him :D

For frequent bathing, id use a very mild dog shampoo. Medicated and anti-parasitic ones can be very harsh if used regularily.

I bath mine every couple of months. But if they have been in dirty water i tend to give them a quick bath when they get home

They get their faces and feet washed every day. They even have their own flannells lmao

    Sad i know

never used a flea bath, but i cant see why puppy shampoo or baby shampoo would be a problem for older dogs.

it's a lot milder and would still get the dirt off.

someone told me they use bicarb i think it was as a dry shampoo gets rid of smells amd stuff. rub it in and brush it out.

i think it was bicarb so dont so it without checking it out.

It must be. My brother had to dog sit for 24 hours once. He refused to do it as it made him gag.

Probably something to do with a threat to their sexuality
You know what men are like when it comes to castration.
