So I want to find out the exact date my Grandad died, neither my dad or aunty knows, neither does my nan. And me and my aunt really want to find out.

Do I call a phone number? Do I even have the right to find out?

i think you can pop into your births and deaths regiser place, but they might say you have to buy a copy of his death certificate but they dont cost too much :)

    good luck.

You just need his full name and the area where his death was registered. Contact the local register office in that area and they'll be able to advise you. I recently did this to find out when my Grandad died.

    Good luck

As you are a relative and will have his full name and date of birth you should be able to find out. I have my grandfathers death certificate from the Scottish genealogy site but he died in 1933. If it was that long ago then you may be able to look it up on the English genealogy site (if you live in England) or as Vickie said, go into the record office armed with birth date, full name and an approximate date of death.

    Good luck.

No one is sure of his date of birth either :(
His girlfriend took everything he owned, and has the certificate of death aswel, no one knows where she is now.
All I know is he was born in 1943 and died at some point in the 80's.

  8. The registrar office has a record of all births deaths and marraiges! In some instances if you search the name and town and the death was registered in the locla paper by a relative this someimes shows up!
    Also there is somerset house!
    regards
    DT

I'd find out by her death certificate.
