Hello everyone, I'm pleased to have found your forum, but may not be able to reply quickly through circumstances. Hurting badly at the moment as I've lost my 14 year old cat Lucy, she ran off over two weeks ago. We had a family visit who had a dog (a sweet little dog mind) and after a day or so she just disappeared. We've done everything possible to find her. I've heard that cats do 'go off to die' but she was such an indoor cat and loved us dearly, surely she wouldn't do that? As far as I know she had no ailments and she was fit and healthy.

My cat Baldy died age 15 and he desperately tried to get out of our house to go away and die, it was so sad.

Thanks everyone for your support, I do appreciate it. Lucy was such a 'stay in' puss. For the last few years she's stayed in practically all of the time. We have a fair few other cats around the neighbourhood and she never wanted to socialise with them, all she'd do would be to glare at them from the window. She did enjoy coming outside in our garden with us when we were with her 'to protect' her I think. She would act all silly and roll on her back, enjoying the sunshine. For a 14 year old she was very agile and healthy and we've never had any problems with her. My thoughts are that she would have come home if at all possible. The weekend that she disappeared was very warm but it was followed by a cold, wet week. I believe she may have just curled up under a bush in someone's garden and gone to sleep. It's so hard coming in each day from work and she's not here, or even this morning I feel I keep seeing her out of the corner of my eye! I would love to post a photo of her here but as yet haven't found my way around :smile5:

I'm feeling now that she's completely gone from me and it's useless to keep searching. We've done everything possible. I must just accept things as they are and try to get cheerful again. Yesterday I found all her photos on the pc, plus a one minute film of her and put it all together into a little film, with music in the background, of course doing that really had me going! But today's a new day! Thank you for your thoughts and wishes.
