    Hi and welcome,

I am now obsessed with bulldogs after getting a bulldog pup back in May! Bentley is now 6 months old and is just the best dog ever. I will look at your photos on Facebook when I get home. I have a few of mine in my profile although he changes and gets bigger by the day!

With regards to training, we started a puppy class 7 weeks ago and I must admit he is really doing well. Being a bulldog I thought he wouldn't be that interested but he is better than a lot of the other puppies. Also the more he is socialising with other pups, the more calm he is becoming. He was always Mr Laid Back:smilewinkgrin: but he is getting really good with other dogs/people and does not jump up etc.

I have found that just repeating things over and over again is the best way and when he just ignores me in that bulldog way that they do, I just keep repeating the command quietly and calmly and after about 30 seconds he decides that he will do what I ask!

They really are a breed unto themselves and I am sure I have been lucky enough to have a really good natured/well behaved pup. He does still have his mad half hours where he jumps around and play barks/growls like a mad man but overall I can't believe how good he is and I want another one now!!
I will probably have a few questions for you aswell as it is a learning curve.

He also has mad half hours were he bounces of every wall in the house barking growling etc but its so funny.
I was thinking of puppy training classes but moneys a bit tight at the moment so thats put on hold for a few weeks :(

I know - classes are a bit expensive really for what they are and I might be biased but I don't think bulldogs need quite as much formal training as they appear to be a pretty good natured breed in general. Its just the stubborness that needs patience - but I can cope with that rather than having a dog that jumps about all over the place and is full of energy all the time! My hubby says I am becoming a bulldog bore! even though he loves him just as much:rolleyes:

Don't know if you already have it but I can recommend the "Bulldog Bible" a book which you can buy from the Bulldog Rescue & Rehoming site. It is full of good advice and describes bulldogs brilliantly!

    Hi nicky thanks:D

Yeh JuNeil dont think the classes would do much for mine hes just so stubbern!! Altough he is a bit crazy when he goes out and gets extremly excited but i can live with that as it is very funny to watch!!
Ill take a look at that site and probably get a book as its not a breed many people seem to know much about
